The Dream of a Dreamer

Today was a day of reflection; I woke up this morning recalling a vivid dream. God was alongside of me, translucent, walking with me. We were at Ground Zero before the beginning of construction and the influx of construction vehicles. The words shared with me were not heard with my ears, but recognized within the very depth of my being. In my dream, God shared this message: "Tread gently on this earth because it is my creation. And at this site, tread with your heart open, because you are on holy ground. Never forget that hate cannot rule forever. The ground is blessed by the lives and the scattered dust of those loved by others, and all of you - a special part of all creation - are Mine. Tread with your heart open, because you are on holy ground.".

I was one of a long list of volunteer chaplains at Ground Zero.  We felt, tasted, saw, touched, tasted, heard the aftermath of 9/11 in an intimate way.  The vacant stares of exhausted fire, police, Port Authority, EMS staff.  The stories.  The dust, the holy dust that contained all manner of dirt, industrial, business and human
matter.

Pray for those who have died, those who were bereaved and carry on, those responders who are ill and dying, and those who, too, have died. They were with God and they continue in God.

Tread with your heart open, because you  are on holy ground.  And dream dreams of peace for us all.

This is wonderful. THANK YOU for the reminder of the Holy Ground of which we must daily walk/bike/run lightly on in order to save our beautiful gift from God.
