With Social Justice for All

Recently the Vatican has come down repeatedly and hard on Roman Catholic women religious for getting into the social justice 'business' at all.  The hierarchy in place would much rather see the nuns -particularly those in the US - back in habits, praying often, working without any compensation to run hospitals, schools and taking care of  altar guild work in parishes.  The nuns are solid in their belief that Jesus wanted justice for all - and that our current 99% structure flies in the face of biblical teaching.

Not long ago I saw a segment on 'The Colbert Report' on the Comedy Central channel.  As he often does, Mr. Colbert brings relevance to the table along with a side order of satire and humor.

This particular episode was with Sr. Simone Campbell, SSS.  At the end, Mr. Colbert simply lifted his hands and said "I'm not gonna argue scripture with a nun!" http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/415112/june-11-2012/radical-feminist-nuns---simone-campbell

Wouldn't you know it?  Several Sisters have climbed aboard a bus to travel across the country bringing the message of Jesus to anyone who will listen.

Read up on the activities, history and focus of the Sisters from various orders.  Go to: http://www.networklobby.org/.  You can 'like' them on FB, contribute to their mission trip by donating to "Nuns on the Bus", or subscribe to their publication,  Connection.

As the immortal Whoopi Goldberg (of Sister Act fame) would say, "You GO girl ...um Sister!".
