Prayer on the Eve of Tomorrow

Timeless, patient and limitless God, hear our prayers this New Years Eve. You have shaken the scales from our eyes to see the homeless, thirsty, hungry, endangered, ill, battered, neglected, without human or civil rights. During the last year, through your grace, we have been moved to help, been moved to move. No, not as often as we could have. On occasion, so overwhelmed by the enormity of need, we started to harden our hearts and isolate ourselves from pain.

Break our hearts with your immeasurable Love, O Christ! Refresh our souls and invigorate our bodies, O Spirit! Remind us of the resources you created for our use and strength, O God! On the eve of tomorrow - a new year, a new day - guide us in your Ways, educate us with your Word, enable us with your Spirit. We and the morrow are in your hands, in your good hands. For that, we give you thanks, Trinity united in One. Amen.
