Drip ... drip ... drip ...
The toilet runs a little. Yeah, that can be annoying.
The kitchen faucet drips a little. That sound can put you on edge.
Think again.
Today is World Water Day.
Millions of people throughout the world must travel hours or days to and from a source of water for the drinking, cooking and bathing needs of their families. More often than not they must travel foot, heavily laden down on the return trip.
Today especially let us pray for those in need clean water. Perhaps your church or community might sponsor the drilling of a well in a small African village or donated to a charity that provides this service.
Let us also pray for the presence of mind to be faithful stewards of the water reserves in this country and a heightened awareness about how we may minimize the amount of water that we waste unnecessarily.
And maybe get out that wrench and replace the washer in the kitchen faucet. Little steps for the long journey.
