An Advent Prayer by Henri J.M.Nouwen

This brilliant gem of a prayer began our short weekly Update from Grace Church, Nyack, NY.

I started using it yesterday morning and already feel more grounded! Bless you all!

Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness,
send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
Amen.

Memory Cross cards

This item was passed by Alice Fish through Debbie of Hodgepodge.

This particular company makes uniquely folded cards that illustrate Bible stories or help people memorize scripture passages. Many of the raves on the website are from kids who enjoy coloring or learning how to fold and unfold the cards to move the story along.

Go to href="http://www.memorycard.com_HTM.htm" for a selection and YouTube demonstration.

A Little Gift to Congregations

There could be a surprise tucked away in your Sunday bulletin for December 14 (and it's not another envelope). Episcopal Life Online provides you with a link to print out the true tale of St. Nicholas, whose feast day will be commemmorated this Saturday, December 6th. A gift for child and adult alike, this insert can be printed by clicking on the following: The real Santa Claus: bulletin inserts tell the story of St. Nicholas.

Read and enjoy sharing how our current Claus came from Nicholas!

Second Sunday of Advent

Alternate collect or prayer for the Second Sunday in Advent:

"Almighty God,

purify our hearts and minds,

that when your Son Jesus Christ comes again as

judge and Saviour

we may be ready to receive him,

who is our Lord and our God." Amen
