The elements are around us
The earth, the water, the air, the fire
Each has been enriched, made holy,
By the lives of thousands. Burned in flames of hatred
Their ashes rose, riding, rising on the air
Some to settle into earth and water
Some continue to circulate still
Invisible. No anger can be found on these precious particles –
No grief, no longing, no vengeance.
Only love which cannot be destroyed remains.
Our love for the people who left us that day remains.
The remnant pain of loss remains
Bound to that moment, with questions and disbelief.
Understanding, knowing eludes us on this plane –
Oh, let us recall the love, the gift, of their lives –
Even as the dust settles and is moved by the wind again.
